The Stranger August 21st 1997 Books Home-Baked Lit

The disgorged contents of 20 zines are splayed an the walls of Project 416, the Pioneer Square gallery/ cooperative that's taken over the former home of Wonderful World of Art. This month long exhibit is part of the ZINE FIEND FESTIVAL, featuring the work of three dozen West Coast zine makers, plus a reading lounge with scores more zines culled from the archive at Richard Huge House, Seattle's literary arts center. This Saturday, eight zine contributors will read at the gallery. Curated and hosted by national poetry slam finalist Noel Franklin, the line-up Includes Cristien Storm (Synapse), Ebon Eldridge (The Arm's Extent, AMPT Radio Live), Greft Nintzel (Destanso), Gregory Hischak(the publisher of Farm Pulp), Jenifer West (also Descanso), Robin Merrigon, and Phoebe Bosche (Raven Chronicles). There's music too, and lots of booze since its an opening, you can drink. Zine reading begins at 7:00 pm Saturday August 23 at Project 416 (416 Occidental, 328-9361).-- MATTHEW STADLER
