There is an explosion of color and shape in Blair Wilson's work that seem to be calculated towards a fairly simple end. To make it rock. The goal might be simple, but the path to get there is far from easy. How exactly does one make something rock? There is no easily applied formula, no set of simple steps one can take, and yet we know so quickly whether or not the journey has been successful. In this work, which seems to be either cartoons of paintings, or paintings of cartoons, the energy and exuberance contained translates into that indescribable something that rocks.
